Tom Picton-WarlowFormer Board Member of Swimming Australia 2011-2015.
In the late 1990’s I took up regular swimming to strengthen my back which had become very problematic with consistent crippling pain. By 2003 with regular swimming my back was strengthened such that it has never bothered me again. Now 15 years later all I have to do is keep swimming to ensure I never go back to that debilitating time. This experience has left a significant impression on me and I am now a firm believer in the power of swimming in health and fitness. It’s very special. Since 2006 myself and my friends have been swimming all year round come rain hail or shine three or four times a week. I envisaged and designed the Swimming365 Concept from 2012-14 and launched the Program in February 2015. The program continues to evolve with a focus on diet and year round swimming. The Swimming365 approach is always to provide the best service possible at an affordable price. It's effective and it works. I am a General Practitioner but a large focus of my work is in Occupational Health for the Mining and Offshore industries. I have a particular interest in preventative medicine, exercise and diet. As a non-executive director I seek to provide Swimming365 with an ongoing medical perspective and strategy. Email me: drdogpaddle@swimming365.com.au Peter MichaelI was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in early 2016 and a mutual friend suggested I speak to Tom at Swimming365. I needed to find a way to manage T2 and improve my health by losing weight and getting fit. Part of the program was the requirement to complete a full health check prior to entering the pool which has become a good basis to measure my progress.
Once I commenced the program, committing to swimming 3 three times a week, I was clocking up 2 to 3 kilometres per session and I was amazed at the results. I could see a change in my body shape and my blood sugar levels dropped dramatically within months to normal levels. I have continued to swim with Swimming365 on a regular basis and have competed in several open water swim events including the Port to Pub and the Swim Thru Rottnest. My health has improved and I’ve made some great new friends.
